Training MOSOP (Movement for the survival of Ogoni people) team members on effective advocacy through media and story telling

The Lincgreen team, facilitated by Diolu Tobechukwu Prosper, Executive Director, and Balogun Favor, conducted an intensive capacity-building training for members of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP). This initiative aimed to enhance their ability to advocate for environmental justice, human rights, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta region, particularly in Ogoniland, where communities have suffered decades of oil exploration, pollution, and environmental degradation.

The training focused on leveraging digital media and storytelling techniques to amplify the voices of the Ogoni people on national and international platforms. Participants were equipped with skills in photography, videography, social media management, and digital advocacy to effectively document and share the struggles and resilience of their communities.

By harnessing these digital tools, MOSOP team members can bring global attention to the devastating environmental and socio-economic impacts of oil spills, gas flaring, and land degradation, while also advocating for policy reforms, corporate accountability, and sustainable community-driven solutions. The training further emphasized the power of strategic communication, enabling participants to craft compelling narratives that highlight the urgent need for ecological restoration, climate resilience, and economic alternatives for Ogoni communities.

This initiative strengthens MOSOP’s advocacy efforts, ensuring that the stories of the Ogoni people are heard beyond Nigeria, influencing global climate justice movements and holding decision-makers accountable for a more sustainable and just future.
