I believe that the stories of flooding and flood victims are undertold. As we advance towards a critical season, especially while grappling with societal ills, particularly poverty and starvation, many people, especially women and children, become vulnerable. NiMET predicts an incoming wave of floods in coastal areas and communities. After conducting research and engaging with the communities, youths, women, CDC council, and elders, I have concluded that we are underprepared. I am calling upon stakeholders in various capacities to fortify and collaborate with us in training and equipping emergency response teams as we prepare for the upcoming flood. My engagement with our flood emergency response team of volunteers in Isoko South & North LGA was quite refreshing.
